So. I bought a house. By myself. I still don't believe it.
I committed to not having the internet or cable tv until I got the majority of my initial projects completed or under way. Ergo... no blog updates til I got all that taken care of. Tonight I finally set up my wireless network so I figured now was as good a time as any. Let me just say how human I finally feel typing away in my cozy bed!!!
The house - It's a cute, little, old (119 yrs young) 1 1/2 story in Cherokee Park in Saint Paul with an *amazing* porch and space for an art studio. Super chill neighborhood. There's supposed to be a neighborhood art crawl (can get rid of some paintings!!!) Cinco de Mayo is supposed to be insane.
The neighborhood's more racially diverse than I thought but less than I hoped. About 1/3 of the families on the block speak more spanish than english which is awesome. One of my next door neighbors is a trip. She's totally awesome and I suspect she and I will get along famously in the spring when she can see the flip-flop ninja's stellar gardening skills in action!! She's a naturalist with a recycled garage and a three legged dog. I think I might steal that idea.... (the garage that is). There's a guy who sells old garages when people upgrade their car storage situations on Plato.
The gardens are in sore need of some TLC. Damn Roses. The prev owner planted roses. I *hate* roses. Gimme a daisy or echinacea (purple cone flower) any day. The old bettys at work said that the roses are some of the most fragrant beautiful roses they'd ever seen. Dagnabit! Now I can't pull them up. The raised beds will have to actually be raised tho. I planted some daffodil and allum bulbs around the mailbox. We'll see how well that went in about six months. : ) Can't wait!!!
I think that's enough rambling to get us going.....
I've included a pic of my own personal nirvana.
Later.... The "punkin stabbing" and why I put off the surgery.
